Mickey Kluner

 

Mickey is the owner and lead instructor with Pinnacle Hockey Development.  Growing up in Calgary, Mickey played his minor hockey with Southfour and the Calgary Royals.  Mickey attended the National Sports School Hockey Program and worked as an instructor for 5 summers with Calgary Hockey Development.  Since those days, he has been extremely involved on the coaching side of the game, coaching winter programs and working with skill development programs.  Mickey coached 7 years with the Calgary Royals.  His first three seasons were with Junior B, with the third season being his first head coaching role.  That season his team won the city championship.  The following year, he moved to the Bantam age to coach Bantam AA where his team won the provincial championship in Alberta.  The following three seasons he transitioned to Bantam AAA as head coach, where he won 2 consecutive AMBHL Coach of the Year awards.  For the 2013-2014 season, Mickey joined the BAAA Rocky Mountain Raiders (Okotoks) as Head Coach.  He led them to their first winning season since joining the league.  In his second year, 2014-2015, he led his team to an AMBHL championship and won silver in the Western Canadian Championships.  The next season, 2015-2016, he led the team to another silver in the Western Canadian Championships.  After coaching another year of BAAA in 2016-2017, he is now using his time to focus full-time on Pinnacle development.


In addition to Mickey’s winter coaching, he has been very involved with spring programs.  He has coached and evaluated at the Alberta Cup, has taken teams to the World Selects Invitational in Europe, Chowder Cup in Boston and many other tournaments throughout North America. 


Since coaching elite levels during the winter, he has become more actively involved with skill development programs, running early morning skill sessions, spring programs, August conditioning camps and other small specialty camps.  In addition, he helps lead the many development relationships Pinnacle has with minor hockey associations in Calgary and area.   He considers himself very fortunate to have worked with the players and families he has and looks forward to continuing these valued relationships.  His biggest joy is seeing the progress of players developing and refining their skills and later moving onto higher and more established levels of hockey.  Mickey is married to his wife Stephanie and has two children, Mason and Lucy, along with their dog Jeter.

Ryan Fox

 

  

Ryan has been involved in Calgary hockey for over 40 years as a player, coach, and instructor. Growing up playing in the SW ending in midget with the Calgary Royals. He then graduated to the AJHL with the Calgary Spurs. Not done with his hometown he went on to play 5 yrs with the U of C Dinos, participating in 3 national championships. Ryan then went on to play professionally in the German Bundesliga with Weisswasser. He returned back from overseas to attend the inaugural training camp of the San Jose Sharks, to go on to play with their IHL farm team affiliate Kansas City Blades helping them win a league championship.

When Ryan’s career ended he got involved with his sons hockey. He became a coach and board member in Glenlake and Trailswest associations. His efforts to give back to the game he loves garnered him separate coach and volunteer of the year awards. Also many of his teams went on to win city and EMHW championships. Ryan went on to become the Senior Head Instructor at D-Rules where he worked for 5 yrs developing all ages of players defensive skills in group or individual settings.

 

Ryan now leads all of the Pinnacle D-programs.  He runs approximately 100 D-man focused icetimes a year with Pinnacle.

Ryan is married to his wife Michelle and has 2 children Corbin and Nicole both currently attending university.

Candice Behm

 

Candice has been a professional skating coach since 1998.  She completed her Bachelor of Science degree, physical education diploma and personal fitness trainer certificate.  She is a national certified coach with Skate Canada and has coached at Nationals, provincials, the AB winter games and a team leader for Western Canadians.  She is a personal fitness trainer at the Glencoe Club.  

 

Candice specializes in skating skills, edge work and agility and has mentored off coaches who were former players from various NHL teams.  Her eye for the mechanics and edges comes from her years of being a competitive athlete and over 20 years of coaching experience.  She works with players ranging from Learn to Skate to players in Midget AAA and has over 2000 hours of experience with preschool aged children which has helped her design a program that effectively teaches the fundamentals of go forward and backwards, jump, turn and stop that is customized for the level on the ice so athletes build a foundation of skating skills.  She believes eventually fast forward skating catches up to a player. What separates a great hockey player from a good hockey player is skating skills.  Candice believes skating skills should always be worked on throughout the periodization of a hockey players training.  Candice believes in helping athletes achieve their goals in a positive environment that pushes the athlete to become the best version of them self.  

 

Candice has volunteered with Glenlake hockey as the timbits coordinator and for the past 6 years with Novice to Pee Wee evaluations.  She has been a league chair with Hockey Calgary for 3 years and with the Macs Midget for 2 years and the Canada Games.

Cameron Anklewich

 

  

Cameron has been with Pinnacle since its inception in 2013 and also is currently an Head coach with the Calgary Royals U15AAA team. Cameron grew up playing his minor hockey in Calgary, going through the Southfour and Southland associations before graduating to the Royals in Bantam. After four years in the Royals association, including one at Bantam AAA as captain with Head Coach Mickey Kluner, Cameron signed in Espanola, Ontario. He would spend three years, two of which as captain, amassing over 100 Junior A games in the NOJHL. In his final year of junior, Cameron committed to King’s College NCAA D3, where he scored the first ever goal in team history in the NCAA. He would go on to play in all but two of his eligible games over the span of three years, setting the school record for games played. Cameron studied both Accounting and Finance, and in May 2021 he graduated with highest distinction.

 

Cameron returned to Calgary and began coaching with the organization he played for, the Calgary Royals. In 2021-22, Cameron was actively involved with two teams, serving as both an Associate Coach on the U18AA Gold team as well as a Mentor on the U13AA Gold team. In 2022-2023, he was the Assistant coach for the U15 AAA Royals Teams.  He is looking forward to continuing his coaching career moving forward with both Pinnacle and the Royals U15AAA team and is in the process of completing his High Performance 1 coaching certification.
